The Institute for African American Studies Welcomes Georgia State University Students

IAAS welcomed GSU undergraduate students who visited the University of Georgia campus and the institute Friday, April 18th. The visit assisted the students in learning about the university's graduate programs. As apart of their visit they scheduled a luncheon and talk with Dr. Carolyn Medine, director of IAAS.

The students sat down to talk with Dr. Medine about their strategic next steps for their graduate programs, the offerings and application steps of some of the graduate programs at UGA, and for general advice about how to best plan for their academic programs and careers. They were joined by the the Institute for African American Studies Graduate Teaching Assistant Carlyncia McDowell, MPH and they were accompanied by the Project Coordinator of the Georgia State University program Center for the Advancement of Students and Alumni, Dr. Leslie Denita Whitmire.

We hope the students from Georgia State University enjoyed the food and conversation as much as the institute enjoyed hosting them and having the opportunity to fulfill the parts of our mission that are focused on supporting students and providing them with informed and caring community. We hope for more interactions between the Bulldawgs and the Panthers and are working for another visit in the Fall.

Please stay tuned!
